Tsubasa Hori
Tsubasa was born in Kyoto, Japan where she started playing piano from the age of three and the taiko (Japanese drum) at the age of eleven. Tsubasa graduated from the Horikawa Music Conservatoire. While studying, Tsubasa began her career in Japanese rock.
In 1996 she moved to Sado Island and became a member of the Japanese drumming group 'Kodo' as a main stage performer, composer and arranger. In 2008 Tsubasa put together a female-based taiko production Cocon, allowing the exploration of female taiko performance.
In 2010 Tsubasa moved to Antwerp, Belgium where she collaborates with musicians and directors in theatre productions, dance works, fashion, and performances art, performing in over 40 countries.
Tsubasa plays a number of percussive instruments, including: taiko, koto, kyujo-orin, music box, the piano, drums and sings.
