Nagelhus Schia Productions (NSP) ble grunnlagt i 2018 og har sin base i Studio NSP i Sandvika.

Kompaniet ledes av en lederduo: Initiativtaker og kunstnerisk leder Guro Nagelhus Schia og assisterende kunstnerisk leder Vebjørn Sundby. De samarbeider tett på alle områder av kompanidriften og har begge betydelig erfaring og høy annerkjennelse innen samtidsdans, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt.

Schias kuratoriske tilnærming fokuserer på utviklingen av banebrytende hybridkunstneriske danseprosjekter. Hun er fascinert av dansens evne til kontinuerlig fornyelse gjennom samspill med ulike medier som visuell kunst, musikk, film, teater og mote. Målet hennes er å presentere et variert spekter av unike danseuttrykk og å utvide horisontene for hva som er mulig innenfor dans. I dette arbeidet samarbeider hun tett med nestlederen i kompaniet, dansekunstneren Vebjørn Sundby, som bringer med seg imponerende erfaring og kompetanse fra over 20 års arbeid som danseutøver, lærer og koreograf, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt.

Sammen har de som ambisjon å skape og presentere et variert danseprogram som tar både publikum og kompaniet med på en minneverdig estetisk, fysisk og intellektuell reise. De er nysgjerrige på hva som inspirerer mennesker og driver dem til å bevege seg, både på personlig, sosialt og politisk nivå. Dansen utforsker nøye det fysiske, emosjonelle og intellektuelle.

I Nagelhus Schia Productions mener vi at det ikke finnes én riktig løsning på de store spørsmålene i livet. I stedet søker vi å skape kunst som er like kompleks, utfordrende, vakker og uforutsigbar som livet selv. Målet vårt er å gi rom for et mangfold av svar, åpne for ulike synspunkter og fremme nye spørsmål som utfordrer og inspirerer oss alle.

Kompaniet håndplukker kunstnere til hvert prosjekt, og knytter til seg dansere fra hele verden. Blant koreografene vi har samarbeidet med dem, finner vi Damien Jalet og Erna Omarsdottir med prisbelønte DuEls, Sidi Larbi Chekaoui med Orbo Novo, Hege Haagenrud med White Noise, og Sasha Waltz med In C. Vebjørn og Guro er også koreografer selv og har blant annet skapt stykket The Core for kompaniet.

I 2019 lanserte Schia og Sundby NSP 2, et nasjonalt talentprogram for samtidsdans med støtte fra Talent Norge og Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. Danserne i NSP 2 får spesialisert opplæring innen det som er NSP sin signatur i dag: et fysisk og ekspressivt uttrykk. De får profesjonell støtte og veiledning i en kritisk fase av karrieren, som hjelper dem med å utnytte og utvikle sitt fulle potensial og bygge grunnlaget for en profesjonell karriere.

Nagelhus Schia Productions støtter også talentutvikling på yngre nivå gjennom DanseFOT ved Kulturskolen i Bærum, hvor Schia kuraterer den årlige samarbeidsforestillingen. Dette samarbeidet har så langt ført til 17 nye verk skapt av koreografer som Hege Haagenrud, Stian Danielsen, Thea Bay, Ingri Fiksdal, Kristin Hjort Inao og Shintaro Oue.

Talentutvikling er en viktig prioritet for kompaniet, da det styrker grunnlaget for en helhetlig, langsiktig og strategisk satsing og utvikling av talenter innen kulturlivet.

I 2020 fikk Schia og Sundby de nødvendige økonomiske rammene på plass for å starte renoveringen av en tidligere lagerbygning, i dag kjent som Studio NSP. Her foregår kompaniets daglige kunstneriske arbeid, administrasjon, talentutvikling og formidlingsaktiviteter. I Studio NSP finnes to dansestudioer, hvor det ene har størrelse og fasiliteter som et middels stort scenerom, inkludert lysoppheng og muligheter for publikumsamfi. Kontorene for vår lille administrasjon ligger i andre etasje.

Kristin Hjort Inao har rollen som plan- og prøveleder for kompaniet. Hun har ansvar for ulike kunstfaglige prosjekter, prøveplanlegging og kompetanseutvikling.

Tara Ishizuka Hassel er produsentansvarlig og har ansvaret for å koordinere kompaniets aktiviteter. Hun tar også hånd om kommunikasjonsplattformer, pressearbeid og koordinerer kompaniets samarbeid med andre partnere.


Nagelhus Schia Productions er ett av tre norske dansekompanier med fast offentlig finansiering. Kompaniet mottar driftstilskudd fra Akershus fylkeskommune, Talent Norge, Sparebankstiftelsen DNB og Bærum kommune.

The company is co-led by initiator and Artistic Director Guro Nagelhus Schia and Assisting Artistic Director Vebjørn Sundby. They collaborate closely in all areas of the company's operations. They have a long track record and high recognition in contemporary dance, both nationally and internationally.

Schia's curatorial approach focuses on the development of groundbreaking hybrid artistic dance projects. She is fascinated by dance's ability to continuously renew itself through interactions with various mediums such as visual art, music, film, theater, and fashion. Her goal is to present a diverse range of unique dance expressions and expand the horizons of the possibilities within dance. In this work, she collaborates closely with Vebjørn Sundby, who brings impressive experience and expertise from over 20 years of work as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer, both nationally and internationally.

Their common ambition is to create and present a diverse dance program that takes both the audience and the company on a memorable aesthetic, physical, and intellectual journey. They are curious about what inspires people and drives them to move, both on a personal, social, and political level. Dance carefully explores the physical, emotional, and intellectual aspects of expression.

At Nagelhus Schia Productions we believe that there isn’t one correct answer to life's big questions. Instead, we seek to create art that is as complex, challenging, beautiful, and unpredictable as life itself. Our goal is to provide space for a diversity of answers, to be open to different viewpoints, and promote new questions that challenge and inspire us all.

The company hand-picks artists for each project and recruits dancers from all over the world. Among the choreographers we have collaborated with are Damien Jalet and Erna Omarsdottir with the award-winning "DuEls," Sidi Larbi Chekaoui with "Orbo Novo," Hege Haagenrud with "White Noise," and Sasha Waltz with "In C." Vebjørn and Guro are also choreographers themselves and have created works such as "The Core" for the company.

In 2019, Schia and Sundby launched NSP 2, a national talent program for contemporary dance with support from Talent Norge and The Savings Bank Foundation DNB.. The dancers in NSP 2 receive specialized training in what has become NSP's signature style: a physical and expressive approach to dance. They receive professional support and guidance at a critical point in their careers, helping them to develop their full potential and lay the foundation for a professional career.

Nagelhus Schia Productions also supports talent development at a younger level through DanseFOT at the Bærum municipality school of music, where Schia curates the annual collaborative performance. This collaboration has so far resulted in 17 new works created by choreographers such as Hege Haagenrud, Stian Danielsen, Thea Bay, Ingri Fiksdal, Kristin Hjort Inao, and Shintaro Oue. Talent development is a significant priority for the company, as it strengthens the foundation for a comprehensive, long-term, and strategic focus on talent development in the cultural sector.

In 2020, Schia and Sundby secured the necessary financial framework to start renovating a former warehouse, now known as Studio NSP. This is where the company's daily artistic work, administration, talent development, and outreach activities take place. Studio NSP has two dance studios, with one being the size of a medium-sized stage, including lighting equipment and audience seating. The offices for our small administration are located on the second floor.

Kristin Hjort Inao serves as the company's Project Manager and Rehearsal Director. She is responsible for various artistic projects, rehearsal planning, and competence development courses.

Tara Ishizuka Hassel is the Producer and is responsible for coordinating the company's activities. She also manages our communication platforms, press liaisons, and coordinates the company's collaborations with external partners.

Nagelhus Schia Productions is one of three Norwegian dance companies with permanent public funding. The company is supported by Akershus county, Talent Norway, The Savings Bank Foundation DNB and Bærum municipality.
