Melanie Lane is an Australian choreographer and performer. She has collaborated with artists from film, visual art, theatre and music, creating works that often tread between performative forms and contexts. Alongside her independent choreographic work, she has been commissioned to create new works for Chunky Move, Sydney Dance Company, Australasian Dance Collective, and has choreographed for English National Opera's Salome, directed by Adena Jacobs.

Melanie created the 2014/15 and 2017 live shows for UK electronic musician Clark (Warp records), performing internationally, including Field Day in London; Moma PS1 in New York; Villette Sonique in Paris; Funkhaus in Berlin; and Sonar Festivals in Barcelona/Istanbul.

In 2015 Melanie was a resident director at Lucy Guerin Inc., and was nominated for the Helpmann and Green Room awards as both performer and choreographer. She was the recipient of the 2018 Keir Choreographic Award in Australia, and the 2017 Leipziger Bewegungskunstpreis in Germany.
