Cherry Leung


Cherry Leung graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Honours) degree from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in contemporary dance and choreography in 2008. She received a full dance scholarship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund to proceed her study in Master in Choreography in Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in The United Kingdom, from which she graduated in 2015.

During her study in HKAPA, Leung was awarded several scholarships, and also represented the school in performance tours to Southampton, London, Berlin, Brussels and Guangdong. Leung received several awards from Hong Kong Dance Awards in the past years. In 2011, she received the Outstanding Achievement in Environmental Dance by working with Hong Kong Theatre Design Co. Ltd. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Achievement in Youth and Community Dance by working with Passoverdance and The Office of the Arts Administrator, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2022, by contributing in the Jockey Club In Search of Voice in a Cramped City Dance Education Programme initiated by Passoverdance, the award of Outstanding Dance Education or Community Dance was presented.

Her works as a choreographer have been touring to England, Germany, Taiwan, Singapore, Guangdong and Beijing. Her works include, SWITCH, Time after time, The Power of Powerless, Beautiful Decay, andYat Yat. During 2019-2022, she participated as the role of rehearsal master in Maze: Shifting Boundaries choreographed by Artistic Director of Passoverdance, Pewan Chow, which was presented in the Festival Hong Kong 2019 – A Cultural Extravanganza at Shanghai, Oslo Coda International Dance Festival (Live streaming performance) and National University of Singapore.
